Kittens usually start weaning and trying solid food at around four weeks, though every kitten differs. 5 tips for starting dry food
- Start at weaning: kittens often show interest in solid food at around four weeks; soften the kibble at first or mix it with wet kitten food
- Choose a kitten formula: kittens need more energy and nutrients than adults, so check the label says kitten or all life stages
- Switch slowly: mix the new food into the old over about seven days to reduce the chance of an upset stomach
- Always offer clean water: as kittens eat more kibble they need more water
- Feed small meals: kittens have small stomachs, so split meals through the day as the label or your vet advises
